Your Challenges
- Backfilling hours at the end of the day – Developers forget to log time, project managers chase them, the monthly report is still wrong
- Git commits and Jira tickets don’t line up – Who worked on which feature, and when? Nobody knows for sure
- Tool sprawl – IDE, issue tracker, calendar, time tracker: four apps, no shared picture
- Reports only on request – Productivity summaries are built manually in Excel because the data lives in too many places
What Zeitweise Does Differently
IDE Tracking (WakaTime-compatible)
All major IDE plugins work directly with Zeitweise – VS Code, IntelliJ, Vim, Emacs, and around 50 others. Heartbeats run in the background without developers changing anything in their workflow. The data belongs to the user, not the employer.
Git Integration
Connect GitHub, GitLab, and Forgejo via OAuth. Commit activity, merge requests, and branch switches are captured automatically and matched to projects. Webhooks keep everything in sync in real time.
Smart Suggestions
Zeitweise generates time entry suggestions from coding sessions and commits. Developers confirm or adjust – rather than typing from scratch. Suggestions that get ignored are merged or discarded.
Issue Tracker Sync
Connect Jira or Redmine. Tickets are mapped to projects, and time entries reference issues directly. No more manually looking up which ticket belongs to which entry.
Calendar Sync
Google Calendar and Microsoft 365 are both supported. Meetings appear automatically as time suggestions. Someone who spent three hours in calls doesn’t need to log that manually.
Flexible Reports
Group reports by project, client, team, or employee. Everything is exportable. The Bexio integration transfers time entries directly as line items for invoicing.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which IDE plugin do I need to install?
The WakaTime plugin for your editor of choice – VS Code, JetBrains, Neovim, Emacs, Sublime Text, or any of the roughly 50 other supported editors. During setup you receive your personal API key. After that, everything runs automatically.
Can my employer or project manager see my coding activity?
No. IDE tracking data is user-private. Employers cannot see heartbeats, commit details, language breakdowns, or file statistics. Only you can access that data – and you decide which suggestions to confirm as time entries.
Does the Bexio integration work for hourly billing?
Yes. Time entries sync bidirectionally with Bexio. Confirmed entries can appear directly as line items in Bexio invoices. Contacts and projects are reconciled as well.
What happens after the trial period?
After 90 days you can switch to a paid plan (from CHF 12/user/month). All your data is preserved. No data loss, no need to set anything up again.
